Technical Requirements for Installation

Metron Laptop Requirements

Below are the suggested performance requirements for the MetronDVM software to operate on a laptop.

Operating System: Windows XP Pro 32-bit or Windows 7 32 or 64-bit*

Graphics System and Monotor:  Laptop should have a 17 inch screen for best display of x-rays. Strongly recommend 1600x900 or greater with High Definition Anti-Glare display.

RAM: Computers running Windows XP Pro will perform best with at least 2 GB of RAM.  Computers running Windows 7 will perform best with at least 3 GB of RAM, 4GB is recommended.

Disk Space: To install Metron and have needed space for the images, the laptop must have at least 200 GB of available disk space.  Consider 350-500 GB disk.

Processor Speed: Metron will typically perform better on newer/faster laptops.  Laptops that are older have slower processor speeds.  To help maximize the speed/efficiency of the Metron program and your overall image processing/viewing experience, use the fastest laptop possible.

Internet Connection: High speed Internet connection availability is required on any laptop that will be running the Metron product.  The internet connection is critical for training & support.  Also, with Metron, you can send diagnostic images electronically to a remote radiologist; this is not possible without an Internet connection.

Metron PC System Requirements

Below are the suggested performance requirements for the Metron-DVM software to operate on a PC.

Operating System: Windows XP Pro 32-bit or Windows 7 32 or 64-bit*

Graphics System and Monotor: Suggested monitor selection is at least 20 inches wide, max resolution of 1600 x 1200 or greater / 60 Hz, image contrast ratio – 800:1 (the higher the better), and response time of 8 ms or better.  Video card should have separate memory of 512 MB.

RAM: Computers running Windows XP Pro will perform best with at least 2 GB of RAM.  Computers running Windows 7 will perform best with at least 3 GB of RAM, 4GB is recommended.

Disk Space: To install Metron and have needed space for the images, the computer must have at least 200 GB of available disk space.  Consider 500-1 TB disk.

Processor Speed: Metron will typically perform better on newer/faster computers.  Computers that are older have slower processor speeds.  To help maximize the speed/efficiency of the Metron program and your overall image processing/viewing experience, use the fastest computer possible.

Internet Connection: High speed Internet connection availability is required on any computer that will be running the Metron product.  The internet connection is critical for training & support.  Also, with Metron, you can send diagnostic images electronically to a remote radiologist; this is not possible without an Internet connection.

*Note:  Make sure the acquisition device supports the specific operating system; some of the older devices do not with newer operating systems and/or 64-bit.  Older x-ray devices are like printers – many older printers will not work on new computers with Windows7 64-bit.

PLEASE NOTE:  For both configurations, it is highly advised to have an antivirus/malware application installed on the computer running Metron. Several great options are easily available. At a minimum, here is a suggestion for each: Antivirus application:  http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition-2011    Malware application:  http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware Once on the sites, click the “Download Now” link on each webpage.
